Did test dummies become alien bodies?

Introduction

The Air Force’s 1997 Roswell report introduced one of the most debated elements of the official explanation for alien-body stories: the claim that witnesses were remembering anthropomorphic test dummies from Cold War research programmes and later attaching those memories to the famous 1947 Roswell incident. According to the Air Force, these anthropomorphic dummies possessed several features that could appear strange to casual observers. They were approximately human-sized, had artificial skin, metal internal structures and sometimes wore specialised flight equipment. Why off-range recoveries looked strange

The Air Force’s argument depended less on the appearance of the dummies alone than on the circumstances of their recovery.

Many launches occurred from military facilities, but the dummies did not always land inside restricted areas. High-altitude winds carried them across large parts of New Mexico. The Air Force also argued that the sheer passage of time mattered. Many body accounts surfaced forty years or more after the alleged events. Psychological research on memory generally recognises that people can accurately remember a striking event while becoming less reliable about dates, sequences and context.
