The debate over the Roswell incident often comes down to a basic question: which deserves more weight, records created in 1947 or memories recorded decades later? For historians, investigators, and many researchers on both sides of the Roswell argument, the answer is usually the same. Evidence created at the time of an event is generally considered more reliable than recollections that emerge years or decades afterwards. Why Timing Changes Evidentiary Value
Contemporary records have a major advantage: they are produced before later narratives, books, documentaries, rumours, and public debates can influence what people think they remember.
